Maimouna Gueye

Maimouna Gueye is a digital finance expert with over 15 years of experience in the financial services sector. She has solid experience in payment systems, digital financial services policy and regulation as well as oversight. She has significantly worked in developing markets on financial inclusion. She graduated with an MBA in Finance and Economics from Saint Peters University in the United States and is an alumni of the Harvard Executive Education Program for Financial Inclusion. After working for UBS Paine Webber and JP Morgan Chase in Wall Street as a Financial Analyst, Maimouna spent many years at the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) where she left as an Assistant Director in charge of regulation and policy of traditional and digital payments. Maimouna recently joined the African Development Bank as a Principal Financial Inclusion Officer in charge of funding a portfolio of projects targeting universal access to financial services for people in Africa. Maimouna undertakes and leads the Division’s work on aspects of digital financial inclusion and aligns them with institutional objectives and supports the Bank’s financial inclusion products. She participates in, and leads on lending and grant funding initiatives for the purpose of access and financial inclusion. She provides technical advice to RMCs, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), private and public sectors in developing, planning and implementing financial inclusion strategies.
