Bitcoin Breaks $5,000

    
A new record cleared by cryptocurrency bitcoin.
 
According to various trackers, the price of bitcoin crashed right through the $5,000 mark for price per coin for the first time in its history. Overall, the price of the coin was up 7 percent and in the midst of it biggest daily increase in the last two weeks. At its current price, a single unit of bitcoin is worth more than four times the amount of a single ounce of gold.
 

Mastercard and Carrefour Launch Scan&Go Service with Masterpass

Carrefour Poland has launched the Scan&Go service embedded in its shopping app, which enables self-service product scanning, as well as in-app payments with Masterpass, all in a customer’s own smartphone.

The solution, designed to eliminate queues at cash registers, has just concluded a pilot stage and is going to be gradually launched in Carrefour stores across Poland.

BMW Selects allpago to Expand eCommerce in Brazil

allpago, a payment service provider in Latin America, has been selected by BMW to support its ecommerce activities in Brazil.

BMW will use allpago’s payment gateway to connect with credit card acquirers in Brazil and verify transactions made on its website, a new ecommerce platform that enables customers in Brazil to select, configure and order new BMW motorcycles online.

Wirecard, Staxter Launch eCommerce Service Platform

Wirecard has announced a collaboration with Staxter in the launch of their ecommerce service platform.

As an acquirer, the payment service provider will enable the German-based company to accept credit cards and alternative payment methods within the app, enabling common payment types such as Visa, Mastercard and Giropay.

Staxter is an app launching in Germany and UK in October 2017, which offers a digital ecosystem to purchase gift vouchers, coupons and online tickets without service fees.

Nigeria's First eCommerce bot From Jumia

Jumia has introduced an e-commerce bot in Nigeria that works by asking customers what they're looking for, and then using their answers to uncover the best offers.

Jumia introduced the Jumia Bot, Nigeria’s first e-commerce Bot, in October. Using Jumia Bot, shoppers can order food, find fashion or electronic items and book hotels and flights by simply having an online conversation with the bot.

Wirecard Issues Contactless Cards and Wristbands for Twisto

Wirecard, the leading global specialist for digital payment solutions and internet technology, cooperates with Twisto to provide contactless payments via credit cards and wristbands at the point of sale (POS) in the Czech Republic. Twisto is the first FinTech providing physical credit card payments in the region. The company was awarded as “Best European Payments & Transfers Company 2017” by European FinTech Awards 2017.

Payment Alliance International Rolls Out Mobile Payments App

Payment Alliance International (PAI) has announced the release of its PAI Mobile app, to allow payment capabilities from smartphones and tablets.

The mobile app is aimed at serving the needs of ATM owners and independent ATM deployers (IADs); it streamlines equipment servicing and support, provides customisable ATM push notifications for immediate alerts, geo-fencing of ATM routes and on-site photo uploads to PAI’s fleet management portal.
